Coming Soon

HornblowerJunior.com Phase 2. We're deep in the production of a new video serial we're calling 'The Right Now Show.' Each month we'll try to focus our attention on an important topic; Liberty, Death, Drug Wars, things like that. With your help we'd like to use this platform to feature important news of the day, cinema, music, and other art forms that promote love and bring people together.

It'll be a couple weeks before we get our first episode out, but until then, enjoy this preview:

Hornblower Junior Mobile Animation Laboratory

I'm starting to realize that I might be better off working for myself. One way to accomplish this is to teach animation privately. I'm calling it the Hornblower Junior Mobile Animation Laboratory. I'll raise money from grants and public support to buy all the necessary resources. I'll write a few different lesson plans for customers to choose from. Advertising will be the most challenging part of the plan; but a mixture of live demonstrations and online notifications should do the trick. As always, more to follow.

Long long long

I have a couple things I'd like to share.

I'm attempting to rework the site. There should be a brand new Home Page in the near future. The main reason I want to change the site is because my goals for it have changed. My goal now is to become a television animator and an editorial illustrator and I'd like to find a way to use this site to share that work and possibly showcase others.

I'd also like to invite artists to send me work that they'd like to publish on HornBlowerJunior.com. Animated work is especially welcomed!

On a side note: my editor is currently away.

Jokes and jokes and jokes. Spaghetti.

I'm testing out a new feature. If you visit the CONTACT page you'll find a text field down at the bottom where you can tell me a joke. For a limited time I will be turning those jokes into comic strips. Unless there is like an overwhelming response or your jokes are wildly inappropriate, I should be able to draw them all. So send them over. This could be a lot of fun.

Rabbit Rabbit

And so concludes the first month here at Hornblower Junior. I thought it went really well.  We had nearly 500 unique visitors to the site! That's way more than I expected. The challenge now, of course, is to bring as many of those 500 visitors back for second and third visits. To do that, I'm going to be working really hard to continue to add new content as often as possible. I'm also trying to gather other artists together to start a few bigger projects. As always, I'd love to hear from you.

Thank you for all the support.

It's getting better all the time

If you've been to  Hornblower Junior before, you'll notice I've made a few changes to the sections up at the top. This page is now called News and it is a place where you can read about updates to the site or new projects I'm working on. I've also added the Sketches section, a tumblr blog I set up where I will be uploading rough sketches, ideas, and other little things that aren't quite ready for the big time.

Also, if you head over to the Works section, I've added part one of a two part comic I'm drawing for a friend. So, check back next week for the thrilling conclusion to "Ryan's Dream."

One last thing: Hornblower Junior is now on Facebook! So if you like us, "like" us.

Happy New Year

It looks like we're off to a great start here at Hornblower Junior. I announced the site yesterday to all my friends and family and since then the stats have been blowing up. So, thanks to everybody who visited lately. With your help HJ will continue to grow and prosper.

In other news I am now one of the artists in residence at the Brooklyn Children's Museum. I'll be creating a video about the effects of Hurricane Sandy on the residents of the Red Hook neighborhood here in Brooklyn. I'll also be teaching a weekly animation workshop to middle school kids. It seems like a great way to get involved with my new community.

Grand Opening

I'm really excited to get this shop off the ground. I've been grinding away at the old Wacom tablet for the last couple of weeks, trying to get my best drawings polished for the grand opening. So if you're reading this, we've launched the site and we're open for business. Thanks for stopping by. If you're interested in an illustration or a cartoon, or if you'd just like more information, head to the CONTACT page and fill out the form. Also, if you like what you see here, tell your friends and family.

Until then, here's a picture of Time Frog:
